The World Bank supports afforestation, reforestation and improved forest management activities in Bulgaria through a Green Investment Scheme (GIS). The revenues of this transaction will be invested in reforestation and assisting natural forest regeneration activities and reducing the occurrence and impact of forest fires.
Shifting Paradigms drafted the project design and monitoring approaches to account for the mitigation impact of the GIS scheme. The project design was developed in consultation with stakeholder in Bulgaria, notably the Ministries of Environment and Water, Agriculture and Food, Finance, and Economy, Energy and Tourism.
