Forecasting the methane production from Chloorkop landfill with an EPA 3rd order decay model

#projects #climate finance#waste

By order of Enviroserve, a waste management company active in 12 African companies, Climate Focus developed the Project Design Document (PDD) of the Chloorkop landfill in South Africa. A PDD is the standard project registration form for carbon offset projects under Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) at the UN.

Shifting Paradigms was the lead author of this PDD and guided the project through the registration process with a project team from Climate Focus.

Climate Focus registered the Chloorkop landfill was registered with the CDM at 27 April 2007. The project avoided methane emissions equivalent to 188,000 tCO2/year.

More information on the project can be found at the UNFCCC web-site.
